The OSFAF festival is an international festival of non-professional film which has been held in Skopje, Macedonia, then part of Yugoslavia.
OSFAF is abbreviation from: Common Yugoslav Students’ Festival of Amateur Film, or Common Students’ Festival of Amateur Film.
The OSFAF Festival had a long tradition. ACC was the organizer of the festival. Unfortunately, with the break of former Yugoslavia ACC stops organizing the festival.
OSFAF was a festival with world reputation. It was important film festival in former Yugoslavia. The festival was member of the International Association of Film and Video Festivals – IAFVF.
Films from the whole world and from former Yugoslavia participated in the festival (e.g. 73 films from 19 countries participated in OSFAF 1988).
Dominant part of the participants were young authors, most of them students. The primary objective of OSFAF was spreading the film culture among the students and the people.
18 festival were organized. The first was in 1973, and the last one in 1990 in Skopje.
After the independence of the country, due to insufficiency of funds, OSFAF was not organized again.
But, in 2006, the members of ACC, made a step forward, and organized the festival again. 79 films from 13 countries from Europe participated, although it was first festival, after 16 years stagnation.
The festival name was changed. The abbreviation “OSFAF” was kept, as a festival brand, and “International Film Festival” was added. That’s how the full name of this festival “International Film Festival – OSFAF” was constructed.
Although the tradition of the past OSFAF festivals was to be held in May, the organization decided that it was the best that the festival is organized in the beginning of October.
The film enthusiasts and the film crowd, on this festival, have the opportunity to see the latest films from the domestic, European and world non-professional film production, where in one place are presented films that are made with minimal funds, but still they are exceptional, original and express the concept of the film art.
